Scholastic Book Fair: A Success

A huge congratulations to all families, students and staff who came to support with our second Scholastic fundraiser. We sold over 300 books and made $5,100.00 in gross sales. That means $1,200 of profit in our pockets. We will be purchasing many exciting new items for our Learning Commons Maker Space such as Snap Circuits, Sphero BB-8, Makedo Cardboard Construction and Littlebits. These hands-on activities promote deep thinking and cover many cross-curricular subjects such as math, science, art and technology. Thank you for coming to the Fair and supporting our love of reading and the development of our Maker Space. A huge thanks to our incredible parent volunteers, Ms. Sandra and Ms. Tracy for all your time and efforts. Many thanks to all!

Eric Walters: An Inspiring Day!

On May 9th, author Eric Walters came to speak to our students. He passed on some very important messages and some of us decided to act on it. Mr. Walters shared his passion for reading and writing. He shared his incredible life travels and the research he does to write his books. More importantly, he told us that we can choose to do these things too. When he visited an orphanage in Kenya in 2007 he decided something had to be done to help for the many homeless and orphaned children. He founded the “Creation of Hope” foundation and helps support 68 children. Ms. Rizzi’s class made a very sensitive, thoughtful and generous gesture that day. They were so moved by Mr. Walter’s efforts that they too decided to do something. They told their teacher, Ms. Rizzi that they want to use their year-end
party money to feed the children at the orphanage for one day. So, on May 18th the money donated by Ms. Rizzi’s grade 7/8 class helped feed and shelter 68 children. Bravo students. We’re so proud of you! To find our more about the Creation of Hope, or to get involved, go to the website
