Grade 8 Graduation Information

The grade 8 graduation ceremony will be held at:
Pierre Elliott Trudeau H.S. at 90 Bur Oak Ave. Cafeteria Wednesday,June 21st.

The program will begin at 5:30pm and will last for approximately 1 hour. Families of the graduates are invited to attend and also stay for a short reception from 6:30pm – 7:00pm. Following the family reception at Pierre Elliott Trudeau H.S., we ask that you arrange to have your child dropped off at Crystal Fountain Banquet Hall’s Southwest doors located at 60 McDowell Gate, Markham, ON L6G 1B5 (nearest intersection: Kennedy Rd and 14th Ave). Dinner and a DJ have been arranged for the graduates. Please ensure your child is picked up before 10:30pm promptly. The cost is $45, payable cash or cheque by Friday, June 9th. Parents must complete the Permission Form portion of the letter their Grade 8 graduating student was given in May and as well, indicate how many members of your family will be attending the graduation ceremony.

Volunteer Appreciation Tea:
Wednesday, June 14th, at 11:00 – 12:00 in the Learning Commons

If you have volunteered this year, we would love to see you so we can show our appreciation while mingling over some snacks and tea. Volunteering includes helping in a class, volunteering in different areas of the school, helping with a school initiative, going on a field trip, attending parent council, assisting with a sports team, and any other time that you have donated to help Beckett Farm continue to be a “great place to be”.

June 29, 2017 Early Dismissal in Elementary Schools

All schools in the York Region District School Board are committed to improving student achievement and well-being.  On Thursday, June 29, 2017, an early release day will take place to allow elementary teachers and support staff to take part in meetings during the afternoon of that day.  These meetings will allow for school staff to engage in culminating activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activities that support student success.

As has been our practice in the past, students will attend school during the morning of Thursday, June 29, 2017 only.  Students will be dismissed early that day at 12:10pm.  Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are normally bused to and from school will receive transportation at this time.  Parents/guardians whose children attend after school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.
