Dear Beckett Farm Families and Students,
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Fayza Prebtani and I am the new Vice-Principal at Beckett Farm Public School. Some of you I have already met around the school and to those of you who I have not had the privilege of meeting yet, I look forward to meeting you!
I am very excited to be joining the Beckett Farm family and I feel honoured to be a part of such an amazing and welcoming environment. I am thrilled to be working with your children and the staff at Beckett Farm Public School on the wonderful learning that is happening here already, and to continue that learning journey forward. Student Achievement and Well-being will always be at the forefront when it comes to our students, and I am committed to upholding this belief for all of our students.
I look forward to working with you all so that we can continue to make Beckett Farm Public School a space that is welcoming and inclusive for all to learn and feel a sense of belonging.
Lunar New Year!
“Lunar New Year is a cultural and religious celebration for many Chinese, Koreans and
Vietnamese. This is the year of the Dog. People born in 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994 and 2006 were also born in the year of the “Dog”.
Many rituals are associated with this festive occasion. They include cleaning house, paying off debts, settling old arguments, and other means of making a “fresh start.” To celebrate, people may light firecrackers, hang poetry, enjoy a family feast (oranges and apples are considered lucky fruits), exchange gifts (adults may give children laisee, red envelopes filled with money), and buy new clothes or new shoes.”
Thank you to all our staff, students, families and community for a wonderful presentation today celebrating Lunar New Year! There were many smiles and looks of amazement throughout the gym and that tells me that it was an enjoyable presentation!
To all our staff, students, families and community that are celebrating Lunar New Year, we want to wish you a Happy New Year filled with lots of happiness, prosperity and good fortune. We wish you a joyful celebration in the company of family and friends.
