We have already begun to plan for the new school year! We will make every effort to place students in the best learning environment where we take into account their individual needs, academic achievement, emotional/social development and work habits. Class placements will occur in May.

When teachers and administration meet, we strive to create balanced classes based on the following criteria:

  • needs of exceptional students
  • academic strengths and needs
  • social/emotional needs
  • gender
  • parental/guardian input based on academic programming needs of their child (e.g. need to work in a certain structured environment)

As parents/guardians, if you have any input regarding your child, questions or comments, please share with the office- IN WRITING by Tuesday, April 23, 2019. It is important to note that the final decision regarding your child’s placement will be that of the School’s Administration and Staff.

Thank you.

Beckett Farm ECO TEAM- Announcement

Dear Parents & Guardians,Screen Shot 2019-03-31 at 1.24.21 PM

Did you know that more than 1 billion plastic shopping bags are given out across Canada every year, all of which can be reused and recycled?

With this in mind, we ask that your child bring in any plastic shopping bags you may have at home so that they can be sent away to be recycled into small pellets and used to make a variety of new products. With your support, we can help millions
of plastic bags get recycled instead of sent to the landfill!

Please send your child to school with plastic bags from March 25th to April 19th.

Thank you!
Beckett Farm Eco Team

World Autism Awareness DayScreen Shot 2019-03-31 at 1.38.38 PM

April 2nd, 2019 marks the 12th anniversary of the very first World Autism Awareness Day. In 2007 this date was declared by the United Nations General Assembly, in order to bring the world’s attention to Autism, a spectrum disorder that affects tens of millions globally.

Please feel free to tweet pictures and words of support and/or post your stories through the Leading Edge as we raise our awareness for World Autism Day.

Our students and families appreciate your support. Thank you for joining in on World Autism Awareness Day celebrations on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019.

International and Indigenous Languages (IIL) Program Registration 2019-20Screen Shot 2019-03-31 at 1.46.19 PM.png Screen Shot 2019-03-31 at 1.41.20 PM.png

Elementary International and Indigenous Languages Program Registration for the 2019-2020 school year will begin on Thursday, April 11, 2019. We are pleased to announce that we are now offering online registration for our elementary program. Registering online will eliminate wait times and long line-ups.  To facilitate registration, on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at 4:00 pm, online registration will be available for the first time through Edsby on our webpage:www.yrdsb.ca/international-languages

Families can still register in person at the language site starting April 11 and in September. Please contact our office at international.languages@yrdsb.ca  if you would like to register in person before September.

Did you know that the IIL Program has over 20 languages to choose from? Currently, we have approximately 15,000 students registered in our programs across the Board.  Students from SK to Grade 8 are eligible to take language classes that run once a week during weekday evenings (from Tuesday to Friday) or Saturday mornings for 2.5 hours. There are many new and exciting things in store for the upcoming 2019/2020 school year, such as the opportunity to learn the Indigenous languages Ojibwe and Cree.
Please note that due to space limitations, registration applications will take place on a first-come-first-serve basis. Classes may be cancelled due to low enrolment or lack of teacher availability.
For more information about registration, courses, dates and locations, please visitwww.yrdsb.ca/international-languages or e-mail us at international.languages@yrdsb.ca.
