For Christians following the Eastern Julian calendar, Easter is one of the most important holidays of the year.

Holy Friday commemorates the passion of Jesus Christ. The Eastern churches focus on the burial.

Many of the traditions that bond generations together in the Orthodox tradition occur during the celebration of Easter. One of the most prominent rituals of the Orthodox Easter is the forty-day Lenten fast, where no meat or dairy is eaten. The fast is typically broken on Sunday morning at 1 or 2 a.m. following the evening Church service where candles are lit and a celebratory hymn is sung in the honour of the resurrection of Christ.

We join you in wishing a Happy Easter to all staff, students and community members who will celebrate Easter in the Orthodox tradition.

CROSSING GUARD NEEDED!Screen Shot 2019-04-22 at 4.40.06 PM.png

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s)

An Adult School Crossing Guard is needed in our area.  Currently, there is a vacancy at Beckett Ave & Brock Ave.  As you can imagine, the safety of children is paramount, and the community is urgently feeling the impact of the vacancy.

The program typically runs from September to June each year. Guards are required to work 2 shifts per day (morning and afternoon), each shift either half an hour or one hour in length depending on the location. The rate of pay as of January 1, 2019, is $17.00 per hour.

Full training on proper procedure and health and safety matters, as well as proper attire and equipment,  are provided for all Crossing Guards. Anyone wishing to apply should be able to speak English, have sound judgment in dealing with traffic and be in general good health, as standing and walking for a period of time is a major requirement of the position.

For anyone wishing to inquire about employment, please contact Anthony Kagan at 905-737-1600.

Are you a student in a publicly funded school in Ontario?

Will you be between Grades 7 and 12 during the 2019–2020 school year?

Do you want to impact Ontario students’ educational experience?

If yes, you should consider submitting an application on to be a member of Education on Quality and Accountability Office’s (EQAO’s) Student Advisory Committee!

The Student Advisory Committee is a group that helps foster a two-way conversation between Ontario’s students and EQAO. Students are the focus of EQAO’s work, and we value learners’ perspectives on everything that we do.

During its inaugural year, the Student Advisory Committee met three times virtually. These meetings allowed committee members to provide feedback and advice on key areas of focus as well as promising practices to support students writing EQAO assessments.

As EQAO seeks to continuously improve our programs, we want to ensure that students’ voices are being heard. The Student Advisory Committee is a unique forum for students to share ideas and experiences.

Please see flyer for more details: Invitation – EQAO Student Advisory Committee
